TS-873 experiences, performance?

Post by bencsab » Fri Oct 09, 2020 10:17 pm

Hi QNAP users,

I'm planning to replace my TS-832X NAS to a faster one. I'm looking after the following setup:
NAS: QNAP TS-873-8G
network adapter for NAS: QXG-10G2SF-CX4

What experiences do you have with that config?
What speeds can I expect from a 4 SSD(SATA) Raid 5 setup?

My budget is tight but I'd like a better system then my TS-832X...

Thanks, Csaba

RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!

A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.

All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!

I haven't used that combination but this could be an indication of what to expect when everything is working properly.
Why I'd like to see user experiences because sometimes ther're information mismatch on QNAP website.
