WirelessAP Station and QTS 4.5.1

Post by obecker » Sun Oct 18, 2020 1:45 am

Hello folks,

after upgrading QTS to version 4.5.1 the WirelessAP Station (version 1.8 ) doesn't work anymore.
It just says "QTS doesn't support this version of WirelessAP Station version".
Will there be an update?

Or is there now a different way to use my NAS with its QWA-AC 2600 card as WIFI access point?

Thanks a lot!

Not sure I want to risk dropping QTS back to the previous version.
Anyone tried that ?

Same problem. I have also raised a support ticket and waiting for a response. In the meantime I install the previous firmware version. I don't seem to have any issues yet.

Hi sharkey2,
thanks for the information.
Do you know what "soon" means ? does it refer to timescales of days ? weeks ? or months ?

I am also contemplating do downgrade to 4.4.3 (which was working pretty well for me). I see that several people could downgrade successfully, in this forum, and also this other forum

viewtopic.php?f=142&t=157375&start=75

So it is tempting to go back to the previous (nice/comfortable) situation.
But if "soon" means days or 1-2 weeks, I may stay with 4.5.1 and wait for the new version of Wireless AP to arrive ...

cheers,
D.

I notice there is a new version of 4.5.1 dated 20201020 but the link to the release notes shows the previous version .1456 released 20201015 ?

On the download page there are updated release notes. The "Known issues" section now contains
"App Center cannot enable WirelessAP Station."

So this new version will not fix it.

Version 1.1.9 of WirelessAP has been released.
I can now start it.
I can reach addresses on the same subnet as the NAS ok but can no longer reach out to the internet.
Devices just say 'no internet connection' I guess I must have lost some bridging somewhere along the line but I don't have to.e to investigate at the moment.
Good luck to everyone else that gives it a try.

the problem with downgrading is, you may also be exposing yourself to some vulnerabilities. might be okay if your nas isn't exposed online perhaps ... :'

If you must downgrade, i suggest you stick to the firmwares which the latest security patch covers

Summary
The Zerologon vulnerability has been reported to affect some versions of QTS.

If exploited, this elevation of privilege vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass security measures via a compromised QTS device on the network. The NAS may be exposed to this vulnerability if users have configured the device as a domain controller in Control Panel > Network & File Services > Win/Mac/NFS > Microsoft Networking.

QNAP has fixed this issue in the following software versions:

QTS 4.5.1.1456 build 20201015 and later
QTS 4.4.3.1439 build 20200925 and later
QTS 4.3.6.1446 Build 20200929 and later
QTS 4.3.4.1463 build 20201006 and later
