The asterisk character behaves as a wildcard and means "any number of any characters at this point in the name".

All other characters shown in that list will be interpreted literally.

Examples:
  • Code: Select all

    .*
means: match any filename beginning with a period, then followed by "any number of any characters at this point in the name".
  • Code: Select all

    ~*.*
means: match any filename beginning with a tilde, then with "any number of any characters at this point in the name", then a period, and followed by "any number of any characters at this point in the name".

The hash is a literal hash character - not a wildcard. Hash is an acceptable filename character.

After reading the carefully-worded documentation, it seems the filter specs only apply to files, not directories: https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... s-and-nas/

Also, found a previous topic where this was asked about: viewtopic.php?t=136691

Ok, thanks for your help

The thing is it was able to exclude dot folders like ".folder" so I was wondering if it was possible to exclude it
