Please make REXP-1000-PRO Available again

Post by wsimmons609 » Sun Apr 26, 2020 11:49 pm

Not everyone in this world wants JBOD via USB 3.0

Please make your REXP-1000-PRO SAS external RAID enclosure available for sale. I need 3 ASAP!
Already invested in the SAD-12G2E card and don't care for JBOD.
Not asking you to start up production. Just make the units already produced available online.

Apologies.

Haven't received a reply to the ticket I opened more than a month ago either, so trying to get some assistance.

you will not see an REXP-1000 Pro again. This is a 6G chassis, and everything, including your SAS-12G2E is a 12G product now. QNAP has just released a new series of expanders, which are all 12G
called the TL-D series. So the TL-D800S is the 8 bay version (this comes with the required SAS card and the 2 cables) and the larger TL-D1600S, which also comes with the SAS card, and FOUR cables (the
TL-D1600S holds 12 SATA drives (it can be SSD's as well) and 4 2 1/2" slots for four SSD drives. The TL-D1600S is being sold at the same price as the older REXP-1000 Pro. So it's not going to happen.
The only thing that is disappointing to me is that the REXP-1000 Pro could have up to 4 expanders daisy chained together, and you cannot daisy chain the new TL-D series. IF you have a product like the
TS-1677XU or the TS-1685, there are two PCIe slots in there, so you could put up to 2 TL-D series expanders on these models.

If you look at the QNAP website, there is a big push for QTS 4.4.2 and these TL-D expander series models. So they are not going to bail out, and go back to the older REXP-1000 Pro. Never going to happen.
And for those that are crying - they are not going to release a new Thunderbolt expander like the TX-800P either (which was thunderbolt 2). So if you have a TVS-871T - it's over for expansion.
And if you have a newer TVS-872XT, and want to add drives - well, you will be purchasing one of the new TL-D series - and the TL-D800S is cheaper than what the TX-800P used to cost. (but of course, you can't
daisy chain this either - and you could daisy chain up to six TX-800P).

A support ticket will do nothing for you.
