Qsirch doesn't find Folders

Post by glennmac » Thu Sep 19, 2019 8:47 am

A customer of mine pointed out to me today that Qsirch when used in conjunction with Spotlight on the Mac (Searching in Mac desktop) never pulls up any folders in the results. Files only. You can also search by every attribute known to mankind except what folder it is in.

When we log in with an AFP connection, search in the finder window reveals folders after a very long search time.
With an SMB 1 connection: no folder results, but files are found
SMB2: no results at all

Searching for a better solution now...

Well that’s interesting about afp. Might have to try that. Since Apple has said it is deprecated I have not enabled it.

I did a couple of tests and you are absolutely correct. AFP finds folders, SMB doesn't.
