QNAP NAS Community Forum

I read that Qsirch is only for within the LAN. We use our QNAP as a storage server that everybody connects to via FTP from outside a LAN and uploads their data. But sometimes we need to search for certain files. What would be the best way to go about this? Currently using Filezilla for uploads which has a search, but it's very slow, would like a search engine to access a database index that it could pull the info from.

VPN into a computer on the LAN then do a qsirch search (VPN server on router/firewall/didicated appliance)
