Setting up email notifications

Post by ozstar » Mon Aug 17, 2020 1:50 pm

Hi,

I had notifications working well by since a few daysm biot now. Not sure if someone who has access changed password, but as much as I try, I can't get it to send any test messages.. ' Unable to send test check settings.

I did notice something that was strange.

When I write a pwd in the Service account and Device Pairing in the Notification Center, if I hit on the 'eye' to see the pwd, I see a very different one.. a coded one with many more characters etc.

This is in the 'Edit SMTP Service Account" panel

How can this be? I put a pwd in and then it shows me another?

Thanks

oz

I have the same problem. Sending test emails doesn't work.

There must be an answer.
Surely someone will give us a clue what we are doing wrong or if there is in fact a bug.
It did work a few months ago so maybe in an update it freaked out.

Well, now sending test emails works. Apparently, the fact that the email password gets changed to a mysterious code is OK and is not the source of the problem. I changed the smtp port for my email setting to a secondary port named by my email provider, and now the test email seems to work.
