DupeGuru on Container Station

Post by robinaspey » Thu Sep 03, 2020 7:42 pm

I have tried to get DupeGuru installed on container station and while it runs to the GUI
I am not able to see the shared folders I want to scan.

There is a list of the usual linux folders including /mnt but nowhere do I see the relevant
shares with my files.

Can someone tell me what I need to do differently ? I am using the Docker version which comes
up as the recommended one to install. I have tried mounting a share within a volume but
it does not show the files I am looking for in the GUI.

A Wiki page would help from QNAP - if you can do this as duplicate files are obviously a
very big problem for any NAS with large volumes

never heard of the program...but can't it access your shares via smb (basically as any other external client)?

You would have to do a volume mount of the folder you want to scan “into” the container.

The container has not visibility to your QNAP shared folders otherwise. It only has visibility to the Volume Mounted shared folder you specifically map to the container.

Nothing to do with specifically with QNAP, just how Docker itself works.

See here for a good example of how to map things.

https://hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/dupeguru

Also make sure you know what UserID that the container is running under, could be permissions issue too.
