not exposing it means using the nat?
No, not exposing the NAS to the Internet means do not use NAT. "Not exposing" is probably not the best term to use, a more appropriate term is "making the NAS accessible from the Internet"

In your case, only plex needs to be accessible from the Internet, which means port forwarding only 32400, nothing else, and that is only if you want other people to share your plex library. If no one else is going to access your plex library, then no port forwarding needs to be done at all, and you should use a VPN to access your home lan.

Why are you manually entering the NAS and IP adress? You are making things more complicated than they need to be.

Just click on the "Browse for Media Folder" button and select your folder(s), which will look something like the following:

Where did you put the plex movie folder? CACHEDEV1_DATA or CACHEDEV2_DATA?

This is very basic stuff. Just click on the folder on the left until you see the movie folder on the right.

1. Go to the Plex server management wer page, select the Libraries menu on the left had column and select "Add Library" on the upper right hand part of the screen.
2. Add the library type.
3. Click on the Browse for Media button
4. Browse through the file system selecting CACHDEV#_DATA (you plex library should be in one of those file systems)
5. Once you have select the folder for the Movies, click the add button.

yup that's what I did and the movies are in the CACHEDEV2_DATA. that's not a folder I created. is this normal? all I did with the nas is create a storage pool, create a share called data and in that created a folder called movies.

I went to that link and into the manual, did a search for RTFM and it found nothing. as long as that folder name is normal, i'm ok. thanks

The polite version means: Read The Fine Manual.

It's a suggestion you'll find the answers you seek if you spend some time studying the user-manual. There's really no-need to ask here for information you're perfectly capable of finding for yourself. ;)
