So I installed windows.

I'm getting ready to sell mine and move to Synology.

I'm fed up with the dismal quality and the total lack of interest shown by QNAP in security and the requirements of their customers.

I sold mine because QNAP didn't care that my TS-509 data streaming speeds slowed to a crawl (talking 8-10Mbps) after my RAID5 array was 70% full. Yes, I gave full disclosure to the purchaser of the issues I'd encountered. I looked at Synology too but ultimately decided to build my own setup centered around an Areca RAID card.

I use my Qnap TS-119P+ for:
- sharing files through WebDav
- storing edited photos
- download station
- storage for assorted files
- and now I'm setting up a share on a USB external drive so a friend of mine can backup to it through internet, we're setting up the same on his TS-119P+ for my remote backup :)

I quit using Multimedia station however as this is too slow for my taste showing pictures (working with a WebDav share is much faster)

TS-469L with approx 8TB of usable space (6TB Raid, 2TB standalone for backup use)

I recently upgraded from a TS-412 for two principle reasons - 1. I wanted to have the HDMI out and 2. I needed more performance.

- Sickbeard, Sabnzb+, Couchpotato, newznab feeding both local XMBC on the QNAP (One of the reasons for the upgrade) plus also a couple if Raspberry Pi's running XMBC.
- Minecraft server (tekkit lite)
- Mac/OSX backups
- Mysql for home play

I'm tempted to bring ~180 QNAP NAS units to the second hand market...

I'm gone from this forum till QNAP stop wasting volunteers' time. Get help from QNAP helpdesk instead.
Warning: offensive signature and materials damaging QNAP reputation follow:
QNAP's FW security issues
QNAP's hardware compatibility list madness
QNAP's new logo competition
Dear QNAP, kindly fire your clueless incompetent forum "admin" And while at it, don't forget the webmaster!

My TS-469 pro is used for flie storage

the TS-569 pro at work is sued for VM backups and possible running of VM's if the main storage array fails

A few weeks ago I got a 419. Currently it's the secondary backup for my wife's business data (via SMB) and I use it to exchange data with my family in Europe.

I like the QNAP software and if this thing doesn't fall apart I may buy a higher end system.
