TVS-471U Harddisks not going into Standby

Post by baconbrain » Wed May 18, 2016 4:11 am

Hello,

I am the proud owner of a new TVS-471U NAS which unfortunately will not go into Standby. I am running Firmware 4.2.1 Build 20160419. I have 3 6TB WD Red Pro HD's running in a raid 5 configuration.

I have attached the output from my blkdevMonitor_20151225.sh and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

BB

This might work for you as well: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=118677

Seems in firmware version 4.2.1. once more Qnap introduced a spin down bug (it was present in earlier firmware as well).

Thanks for the suggestion and I will give running hdparm -Y a try.

One additional question, you mentioned in your response to the linked thread that after running the hdparm -Y command, you then reapplied your HD "Standby" settings in the control panel, is that correct? Have you shut down and restarted the NAS since then, and if so, do the HD's continue to spin-down or do you have to run hdparm -Y after each restart?

Really appreciate the feedback!
