HDDs randomly spinning up on TS-231, v

Post by Jepacor » Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:02 am

I've been running into this issue lately with drives in my NAS that will randomly start to spin, even when my PC's shut down.

I've tried to shut down the services I had activated (so, VPN pretty much), but it doesn't seem to help.

I've ran the blkdevMonitor script, and found this that I don't really know how to exploit : https://pastebin.com/C1rsNGD2

What I seem to observe is that most of the spinups are related to smbXsrv_open_global.tdb, which seems to be a Samba thing, although it's not all the spinups. If I understand this correctly, I think these also shouldn't cause an issue when my computer's asleep.

So I turn to you that may have more experience with this to ask : What do I need to fix ?

Thanks for your help.
