Any idea if there is going to be an updated 1282T3 with the latest intel Processors, Its been a couple of years they have been refreshed? I am in market to buy one and I don't want to spend too much money on older hardware though it's powerful.

What's interesting is QNAP just made a video of 2 new models that look very similar to the TVS-x82, TS-686 and TS-886 with Xeon processors.

Interesting indeed. Note that the Xeon CPUs are 27W and 40W lower powered CPU from the Broadwell architecture so essentially the same or actually a bit older than the initial TVS-x82 which was skylake... They just don't have an iGPU.
This all in spite of being released in Q2 or 2019.

I just took a look on amazon and was stunned by how expensive the NAS has become... COVID19 effect it seems.

Please excuse me but I was not able to understand if is it possible to swap i3 6100 processor of y QNAP 682T to i7 7700.
I already upgraded BIOS of my QNAP with QX77AT22 versione which support gives me but I don't know if this BIOS which is the last which I can flash on my NAS permits to install i7 7700.
The problem is to understand if is it possible to swap from 6th generation to 7th gneration of processor.
Please can someone help me to understand if can I do this?

As stated previously, you can, but it's not advisable because you might brick the unit... Stick to the generation of your product. If you have an i3-6100, you can use an i7-6700k. If your unit came with an i3-7100, you can use a i7-7700k. In both cases, you can use the "T" versions or the non "K" ones of these CPUs because they have a lower TDP and that's always good, since the unit lacks a little bit in terms of airflow.

So, theoretically, it should be possible, but unless I'm mistaken, nobody took the chance of bricking the unit. I haven't dared doing it myself... Another reason is that the i7-7700k's price is way too high for a Quad-Core CPU in 2020...

If you have already installed the bios then there should not be a bricking risk of trying a 7700K processor, it either works or it doesn't. Cannot confirm if the bios you stated supports 7th gen CPU or not though.

Hi guys, subject is so long and a lot of pictures are missing.
I need a bit help.
I want upgrade my tvs-1282:
- CPU i3 to i7 6700k (max processor for it)
- probably cooler on cpu (any suggestions)
- exchange PSU 250W to I think sf600 600W (but I read that need to add something some cables -> mby im wrong)
- need exchange fans for "silence" (any suggestions)

Hi michalspl2000, I think you're really going to have to take the time to read through this long thread to learn how others upgraded.
If you have any specific questions, let us know.

You will need a QNAP PSU adapter cable (I got mine on Ebay, just search for it), and you will need a new CPU cooler for the i7-6700k (I have a Corsair unit but others have a Noctua).

for coooling cpu I think about Corsiar H5 SF watercooling but if I have m.2 with radiators I don't think will match so what you propose to put in ?

for silence FANs I read about Noctua, but right now I don't know which one pick... I can pick from: Noctua NF-A8 PWM vs FLX vs ULN they are very similar but ...

If i'm right I need 3 of them ...

After years of playing with water-cooling, I can say now that I would not recommend it due to the maintenance needed and risks involved for a 24/7 machine. I opted to replace the heatsink with one of similar design but heftier and made out of copper. There are a lot of options for "passive 2U cooler" (Mine is a Dynatron Y506) involving copper and heat pipes up to 100W TDP. Technically with normal case airflow, these should not even need a CPU fan. I also replaced the blower fans with more powerful ones. I did not care so much about the noise and honestly it's not all that loud in my office.

You're in luck cause the Noctua NH-L12 just got resurrected thanks to Louqe Ghost sffpc case. It is now called the NH-L12 Ghost Edition.
